“Designing for the Future” is fundamentally about discovering the collaboration between technology and design. Whether it's harnessing the power of virtual worlds, integrating augmented reality, or leveraging artificial intelligence, designers must be proactive in acquiring knowledge about emerging technologies, as they are valuable creative tools.
In this rapidly changing era, adaptation and collaboration with such technology is the key to unlocking innovative design solutions.
Milka Broukhim, a concept-driven visual communication designer, creative leader, and design educator has left an indelible mark on global brands, leveraging decades of design expertise for Fortune 500 and tech clients, including Snap Inc. Currently leading Milka.Design, she mentors designers and crafts dynamic visual brand identities for startup and established clients.
Heather Crank is an award-winning visual artist, designer, and owner of the the art collective Crahmanti. Her films have been showcased at the Guggenheim, SUPERNOVA Animation Festival, Meow Wolf, Night Lights Denver and RESFest, and her clients have included firms in the tech, motion picture, music, and educational spaces. Highly versatile and skilled, her specialties include motion and graphic design.
Wilson Ho designs human-centered products driven by design thinking, data, and good UX. Since graduating from USC, he has leveraged his student experiences at startups and evolving businesses. At Criteria, he leads design for a new HR product looking to revolutionize teamwork improvement and personality assessment. Previously, he helped establish a foundational UX framework for non-profit and fintech startups.
Mark Johnson is the Senior Vice President of Product Development for Xperi Inc., whose technologies appear in billions of devices worldwide under widely recognized brands such as DTS, HD Radio, and TiVo. He leads the Technology Strategy & Standards group, which helps drive long-term innovation across all business units, and has been actively developing products in the entertainment industry for over 25 years.
Melody is an interaction and multimedia designer who is passionate about using human-centered design to empower people toward a better tech-mediated future. She is currently working as an interaction designer at Spatial Labs, creating both hardware and software products and experiences to simplify and enhance people's lives by bridging the digital and physical worlds.
Sabrina is a designer with a premed background. She graduated from USC in 2021 with a degree in Global Health. After realizing her passion was in healthcare innovation rather than medicine, she withdrew her medical school application and pivoted to a career in healthtech design. In her free time, she can be found exploring nature, trying new workout classes, and refilling her creative cup.
Katie McIntyre is a creative director, director, technologist, fashion and product designer and 3-D artist. She is a cultural leader that has been shaping the female empowerment movement across the music, technology and fashion industry, is known globally for her design philosophy of "feminine futurism," and has been featured in Hypebae, Vogue, Time Magazine and others.
A UC Berkeley alum, Doron created Vocalini with his best friend from middle school as part of a UC Berkeley startup program focused on innovation in education.
Rachel graduated about a year and half ago from Roski. She currently works as a UI Engineer at LinkedIn on the Premium Management team, although her journey into big tech was a bit unorthodox. Outside of her job, she loves anything art/design/culture related, dancing, and making music.
An accomplished Experience Designer, Davina’s work can be seen at USC's Doheny Memorial Library, the Getty Center, and other major exhibitions and museums. Her design firm, Create Crisp, is committed to creating meaningful educational experiences to advance the careers of female creatives. Davina is also full-time Associate Professor of Design at USC's Iovine and Young Academy, where she serves as the Assistant Dean of IDEA Initiatives and as a University Diversity Liaison.

Innovative Design at USC↗ is so excited to bring to you Riptide, a day-long, in-person series of workshops, speaker panels, and collaborative events intended to inspire students to leverage art, technology, and creativity for innovation.
Riptide will be hosted in-person this year at the University of Southern California. Come join us in Tutor Campus Center Room 450 (The Forum) at 3607 Trousdale Parkway, Los Angeles, CA 90089.
Riptide is free and open to all college students! You must be an undergraduate or graduate student of an accredited college or university in the United States and register with a VALID campus-issued email address (.edu or equivalent).
We ask you to bring a charged laptop with you to participate in our workshops and creative challenge. Other than that, come with an open mind and eagerness to create (and maybe a friend too)!
